Will Lip Injections Reign in 2021?
Well, it looks like it’s that time of year again. All of a sudden everyone is hitting the gym, eating super healthy, and trying to build healthy new habits 💪. Don’t get me wrong; I find these all very commendable. The problem that most people make with New Year’s resolutions is that they tend to go from one extreme to another. You can’t really be a couch potato all the time and then all of a sudden, start hitting the gym 2 hours a day! Anyone will tell you that’s a quick recipe for burnout or injury.
I like to use this same analogy for lip injections, my specialty at THE MED SPA® in Southwest Florida. I’m not going to take a patient with naturally thin lips, and then give her lips rivaling the plump pout of Kylie Jenner in one session. I’d rather give my patients results that look like they’ve always been there. Moderation would be a good way of describing how I approach my lip filler treatments, initially 👌. If you are wanting a voluptuous, full pout, I always recommend filling in gradually, in multiple treatments throughout the year. This leads me to my next point… lip injections have become so popular in the past few years that the aesthetics world can hardly keep up with the newest lip trends and filler techniques. Will lip injections reign as the #1 most requested treatment in the world of aesthetics in 2021? I’m confident that it will, in which case, I’d like to share everything you need to know about lip injections. Read on to dig a little deeper into my methods and see if you are ready to start the year with a new (but natural-looking) pout.
How Does The Filler Process Work?
To begin, let me quickly review lip fillers and how they work. We like to use what are known as hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers 💉. Hyaluronic acid actually occurs naturally in the human body and is perfect for not only adding volume to the lips but also moisturizing and nourishing your skin due to the fact that they elicit collagen production in the skin. While the HA fillers we use are temporary, they are still made to last a while before fully dissolving. I usually recommend that my patients come in 3-4 months after their first treatment for a touch-up. We typically select the filler and treatment schedule based on the patient’s aesthetic goals and preferences.
Why Are You So Insistent On Natural-Looking Fillers?
First off, I want people to be proud to say that they got a filler treatment from me! I don’t want any of my patients to make any rash decisions for their facial treatments, only to regret them a few weeks down the road. While there are ways to reverse any lip filler treatments you don’t like (more on that below), I don’t want you to have to spend any extra money for your aesthetic goals!
Secondly, don’t you think it might seem a little odd to just show up at work the next day with a completely new set of lips? It might throw some people off a bit. And while the opinions of others shouldn’t really matter, the constant stares and questions are bound to at least get a little annoying 🙄. By easing into your full lips over a longer period of time, your lips will look great, but also natural to those around you!
What If My Lips Can Handle More Filler?
Everyone’s lips are completely different. Some people’s lips can receive a great deal of filler without looking unusual at all. Other people just don’t have the profile for it. This all typically hinges on how much pink someone has in their lip structure. If you have been genetically blessed in this area, I’ll most likely recommend that you come in every six months for more treatments!
What If I Don’t Like My Filler Results?
No need to worry at all! If you are not totally happy with your results, you can have as much of your filler dissolved as you would like! We use Hylenex® to disintegrate the hyaluronic acid dermal fillers.
